Until your baby starts talking, you may often wonder what she’s trying to tell you. If your newborn is fussy, puts her hands to her mouth, smacks her lips or turns her head toward your hand when you caress her cheek (a newborn reflex called rooting that causes her to turn toward a food source¹), she may be hungry.²
